Beginning Pottery - the focus will be on laying a strong foundation in hand building fundamentals, covering essential techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab work along with glazing and other slip and surface decoration techniques.
Intermediate & Beyond Pottery - For intermediate to advanced students, who aspire to master the art of hand building, this is the class for you. You will delve deeper into advanced hand building techniques, with one on one guidance and valuable insights to elevate your individual projects and skills to the next level.
Alexander trained at the National Art School in Sydney and brings his own unique blend of creativity and expertise to the classroom, ensuring a dynamic and enriching learning experience for all.

This class is perfect for students who are just starting their pottery journey.
Throughout the course, Alexander will focus on laying a strong foundation in hand building fundamentals, covering essential techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab work along with glazing and other slip and surface decoration techniques. Students are encouraged to reach beyond their comfort zone no matter the skill level. Along with weekly demos, we will work one on one with students to help with their projects.
You will benefit from Alexander’s patient and hands-on approach, as he guides you through basics and provides personalized instruction to address individual needs.

Our teacher Alexander Mamas, who trained at the National Art School in Sydney, brings his own unique blend of creativity and expertise to the classroom, ensuring a dynamic and enriching learning experience for all.
Alexander has been working in clay for over a decade and has a passion for the basic fundamentals of the craft. Woven into his practice is a slow and compassionate approach to teaching. With a strong foundational knowledge that will assist any student’s technical questions, he takes care when approaching student needs with empathy and understanding.
Inclusions: Price includes $50 materials fee to cover the cost of clay, glaze and firing services. In order to reduce our studio’s environmental impact, all courses include 7kg of reclaimed clay, firing and glazing. Adult students must have their own tools. Starter tool kits can be purchased on the first day of class at the studio for $25/kit (plus GST). If you use more than 7kg of clay ( by utilising studio time) you can purchase clay from the studio and pay for firing and glazing at studio rates.
