OUR STORY

In April 2025, Cassale and her son Salem took over the management of Pot Studios, blending their unique talents and passions to create a vibrant community hub for pottery enthusiasts.

Salem, a dedicated potter from California, has been perfecting his craft since his early years at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley. His journey through the world of ceramics has shaped his artistic vision, allowing him to express his creativity in inspiring ways. With a deep love for pottery, Salem is not only an artist but also a passionate teacher. He fosters a warm and supportive environment where students can explore their creativity, develop their skills, and grow as artists.

For over 30 years, Cassale has traveled the globe, immersing herself in diverse cultures and experiences that have shaped her understanding of creativity and community. With a strong background in business development and marketing strategies, she has always sought to create spaces that foster personal growth and connection.

Before founding our pottery studio, Cassale ran a successful Wellness Center in Marin County, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Nutritionist and Meditation Teacher, she helped countless individuals reconnect with their bodies and minds.

Just as meditation encourages individuals to tune into their bodies and thoughts, the process of shaping and molding clay invites a similar exploration of self. Both practices emphasize the beauty of being fully engaged in the creative process, allowing for reflection, growth, and a deeper understanding of oneself.

In our studio, we invite you to experience this transformative connection firsthand. Whether you’re a seasoned potter or a curious beginner, our classes and workshops are designed to inspire creativity, mindfulness, and a deeper appreciation for the art of pottery.

Join us in celebrating the beauty of clay, the earth, and the journey we all share.

Come and be part of our story!

Pottery Studio Gold Coast.
  • Traci first fell in love with ceramics while growing up in Sydney, before returning to it on the Gold Coast in 2019.  Traci is passionate about all things handbuilding and has a style that is inspired by nature and its rugged and undulating landscape.

"I love the connection clay gives me to nature...it's as if I'm putting my hands back into the earth.  It totally grounds me and brings me into the present moment.  There's nothing quite like getting lost in a project and realising the hours have flown by.  Guiding workshop participants into this connection with the clay always leaves me with a sense of purpose and gratitude"

  • Cassale is one of the founding partners of Pot Studios, embodying a deep love for art, creativity, and community.

With decades of experience in the wellness space, Cassale joy is cultivating an environment that fosters artistic expression and connection among people.

Cassale’s vision for Pot Studios goes beyond just a pottery studio; it is a hub for collaboration, inspiration, and the celebration of the arts, enriching the lives of everyone who walks through its doors.

  • Abbie McGregor is an earth-based artist who works with a collection of natural mediums.

With a deep interest in primitive technologies, she is skilled in weaving, leather tanning, storytelling, and ceramics.

Abbie has been working with clay for nine years. Originally trained by Michael Jones, she quickly fell in love with the craft and began pursuing it independently. As a ceramicist, Abbie facilitates workshops for children, adults, and the elderly, with extensive experience teaching wheel throwing, hand-building, and sculpting.

During the week, Abbie serves as a Bush School Mentor. In this role, she draws on her primitive technology skills to lead term-long programs that inspire children to explore ancestral handcrafts. A major focus of these programs is primitive ceramics; Abbie guides students through the entire cycle of harvesting, processing, building, glazing, and firing clay.

She believes that understanding ceramics from a primitive perspective fosters deep reflection on our relationship with the natural world. The central axiom of Abbie's work revolves around the question: How can we walk in right relation with the natural resources provided for us?

Abbie believes that developing a relationship with clay is foundational to working with the medium. To her, it is more than just "sticky mud" from the ground; it has been a companion to humanity since the dawn of time. Learning to listen to the clay is how we start to develop this relationship. And it’s something that she is inspired to share with those she teaches.

Pottery Work Shop Tugan
  • My introduction to pottery was immediately transformative. In 2019 it became more than just an art form, it was a form of therapy for me. I will happily spend hours on my deck, nestled in the rainforest, creating. It is what I enjoy the most. It provides me with mindful stillness, allowing escape from the stresses of modern life and just being with the clay.

The handmade creations I make embody sustainable practice, individuality and my expression as their maker. Pottery is crafted from the earth with care, intention, and authenticity. My deep love of nature, and the inherent understanding of the natural world gained through my horticultural and environmental background, fuels my creativity. As an artist I want to create more than just an aesthetic shelf-sitter. My practice is informed functional and purpose driven designs, that also serve as a reminder to connect back to the earth and consume with intention.
